Back in 2011, the Department of Education declared November as the National Reading Month. Before the pandemic and quarantine protocols, Divine Light Academy celebrated the reading month by doing various activities such as Drop Everything and Read, Cross-Age Reading, and Book Characters Come Alive. Divine Light Academy had made sure that the students and teachers take a little time of the day to read.

Whether reading through e-books or physical books, people have different reasons as to why they choose to read. Some people choose to read because it entertains them while some people choose to read because they like to be informed. Reading is one of the most underrated skills since it is evident that anyone can read. Despite everyone's ability to read, understanding the text is a crucial part of this. Comprehending and understanding the message being communicated are what gives meaning to reading and writing.

Due to the set-up where all of us are restricted to relying on technology, everyone should not give up on reading. This might be the perfect time for us to read the books that are just waiting on our reading list, or articles that show up on our news feeds which seem interesting. With the stress and negativity that this pandemic brings, it is important to rest and be selfish enough to take time for yourself. Reminisce special moments back in school and celebrate the Reading Month with your friends and family through simple reading activities. It is never too late nor too early to begin reading.
