As part of the 25th anniversary celebration of DLA; a tree planting program was held on Barangay Molino III in an open area near Camella Springville West 1 last October 5, 2019. The activity was attended by selected students from the intermediate to senior high levels. A hundred assorted trees were planted on the designated site.

Ms. Luisa Ordonez, the committee head of the program, earlier had requested for the plants that were used and as well as the vacant lot in a written letter addressed to the City Environment and Natural Resources Office of Bacoor (CENTRO) and was then directed through the office of the Mayor which was promptly approved afterwards.
The program started around 8 in the morning. There was an assembly held at the Barangay Hall where the participants were briefly oriented on how the activity shall proceed. Local Barangay Officials provided transport in going to and fro the allotted lot. Using shovels and spades; the Science department together with other teachers, maintenance personnel, admins, and even parents helped on with the laborious task of planting the trees. The activity finished at around 10am. Before leaving the site, the officials apparently promised to place fences around the shrubs and oversee their growth. Snacks were handed out to after the planting.

In a text interview with one of the attendees; Kara Arevalo, a Grade 9 student, shared her thoughts on the event. “I realized that the privilege to plant those trees was actually us saving mother earth.” She shared how she hopes to have more like this to happen and to have more participants in future events. She expressed her ‘feeling of happiness’ almost as if she (you) was (are) one with nature. “I will full heartedly look-forward to the growth of those trees and the change that it will bring to our home.”
