What comes to your mind when people talk about treasures? Pirates? Wealth? In my opinion, people are searching for treasures that would give them wealth— but in this time and age, treasures can mean someone special, so dear that we love and adore. Treasures that would change our lives drastically, as they bring out joy and content within ourselves. Wealth cannot compete with this treasure that I talk about, as having a friend that would be there for you ‘til the end is the greatest treasure that anyone could think of receiving. Undoubtedly, a one-of-a-kind treasure that everyone longs for— a friend that would make your life happier. A friend treasured by many is hard to come by; a friend like Ms. Alexis Fuentes-Eugenio.

Treasures like Ms. Alex are rare — we should be grateful for the things that she has done to each of us, may it be simple, to support during our lowest or even being there with us every step of the way. She influenced each student she has handled, emitting a welcoming aura around her— she continued to help students who came to her aid and spread positivity around her. Having a pleasant personality was what made students attached to her. She handled students very well and would make each session fun and comfortable for everyone. Being with her was like a safe space for some, a safe space where they can be their true selves. Ms. Alex has touched the lives of numerous students and friends alike, and is undoubtedly a remarkable person.

Having to marry the love of her life and giving life to a child, it was the happiest moments of her life. In an interview with her back in 2018, she told me that she continues to help the students and still believes that we should keep moving forward even though we face many problems in life. A simple smile of hers can already make someone’s day, and calling her “Ms. Gorgeous” would brighten up her day. She still believes that beauty lies within ourselves and we should be proud of who we are. Helping students with their problems was her job and she enjoyed it, knowing that she has helped a student, even a bit, is already an accomplishment.

“Treasure those who are important to you, as you never know when they’ll pass.” Ms. Alex, thank you for the support and help you have given to each of us, students¸ co-workers, and family alike. You’ll always be remembered as you have showered us with your love and understanding during our journey with you. An angel was suddenly called back, and we are happy that you became a part of our lives. We are forever thankful for your service and bringing us the feeling of having a “treasure” near us. Thank you and we love you, always.
