Every year, on the 5th of October, we celebrate the people we consider our “modern-day heroes” – our teachers. Majority of us would see teachers as our second parents, and without a doubt, it is unquestionably true! As we have seen and experienced, our teachers have imparted numerous knowledge and wisdom to us, including life lessons in addition to academic ones. Additionally, two of their most impressive qualities—their dedication and sheer determination—allow their students to absorb lessons better and ultimately lead their students to success.

For 2 years, during the height of the pandemic, we have been celebrating the annual world teachers’ day online, but now that face-to-face classes have resumed, we got the chance to honor and show our appreciation to our teachers in person. Along with this joyous celebration is the month of the Holy Rosary in which we lift up our prayers to Mama Mary, the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ.

On the 6th of October, 2022, students from 10th grade to 12th grade gathered to witness these 2 big events. The event started at 8:00 am, at the DLA-covered court with a celebration of the Holy Mass dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and to our dear teachers. The official celebration follows, which consists of sincere and heartfelt speeches, musical performances and intermission numbers, interactive games, and activities, made especially for teachers. One of the most memorable parts, however, was when the teachers walked down the aisle and performed a TikTok dance as they were being introduced per level. Students showed their support and yelled in delight as their teachers danced their way through!

It was genuinely a day to cherish and remember! Lastly, let us always keep in mind that there are many more ways to show our appreciation for our teachers besides giving them speeches, gifts, or celebrating them for a day, which is a positive thing in itself, but, honoring our teachers also entails demonstrating our gratitude for them every day in each class, whether it be by asking them questions about specific topics and/or by performing well and successfully completing the tasks they assign to us. Once again, Happy World Teachers’ Day!
